Name & Title: My name is Jet Tadgell and I am an Account Executive at Danavation Technologies Corp.
Describe yourself in three words:
I would describe myself as an amiable, charismatic and intuitive individual. I have a tendency to err on the side of optimism rather than pessimism. I would assess myself as someone that sees the world through rose coloured glasses.
Favourite song, why?
My favourite song is Harvest Moon by Neil Young. It’s a great slow dance tune, and played at the right time, is the epitome of romance.
Favourite movie, why?
The Departed is my favourite movie. Starring Leo Dicaprio and Matt Damon, this story follows two undercover agents in the Boston Mob and Police Department who are on a mission to find each other. The approach of both characters follows a chess logic that leaves you a little scrambled. Each watch, you notice something different… and Boston accents are awesome.
Favourite book, why?
I recently read a book called the Paper Palace by Miranda Heller. It is a vivid depiction that perfectly describes cottage country in Maine. It bounces between this setting and stringed-together prologues with well-placed subtext that are metaphoric of the overall plot. This approach makes every read seem fresh.
Favourite brand, why?
Denver Hayes from Marks Work Warehouse is my favourite brand because it’s somewhat cheap while also making me look distinguished as a young professional. That, and it’s super durable. Arc-Teryx makes some pretty sweet outdoor gear too for big adventures.
What’s your favourite thing about working at Danavation?
So far, my favourite thing about working at Danavation is the autonomy paired with support and a very clear agenda. I enjoy the young and vibrant work culture here as well.
Quote to live by:
“Dream as if you will live forever. Live as if you will die tomorrow.” – James Dean
Fun fact about you:
I love skiing, surfing and free diving. I love adventure sports and am very excited to get a ski this winter with anyone that wants to join! I also love to start my day by getting a read and a run in.
What’s your superpower?
My lack of pride makes me quasi-fearless. I think a lot of what holds us back is our ego, and an unacceptance of a potentially negative outcome. I think it’s really admirable when someone is passionate and talented with the ability to balance humility.
What is your greatest accomplishment?
Using Machine Learning and AI, I developed an IoT platform that provides remote healthcare diagnosis for mild and severe ailments through the integration of an array of biomedical sensors. This was my electronics engineering capstone project. Each diagnosis learns from the last, and the algorithm was measured with 85% accuracy compared to clinical trials in the assessment of 5 test conditions using 5 integrated sensors.
Your favourite tradition in your household?
Tradition is definitely a loose term but my dad and I love to drink beer and play ping pong.
I enjoy a good Scotch. Smoky and Bold is the way to go.
Three travel destinations that are on your bucket list:
I am definitely going to try to cross off Argentina, Portugal and South Africa in my 20’s.
Which actor/actress would play you in a movie about your life?
Timothee Chalamet is a pretty cool dude. That guy could act anything.
What do you think is the greatest invention of all time?
The watch. Most great ingenuities
How many languages can you speak?
2, English and Spanish.
You’re hosting a dinner party. Eight people are seated at your table. Living or dead, who would you invite?
My head kept going to hip hop? Einstein and Oprah would be wickedly out of place, but maybe he would appreciate a separate dinner party with some crazy physicists and philosophers. Oprah would be great because she would be all, “You get a breadstick! You get a breadstick!” You know, like the car thing? So maybe I would have two dinner parties.
Three things you cannot live without?
Three things I couldn’t live without are Salmon, Coffee and Hot Sauce. Not together though!
Anything else interesting about you that you would like to share:
Just blew an eardrum so… YOU’RE GOING TO HAVE TO SPEAK UP A LITTLE.
