Daniel Richard, Director of Sales

Name & Title: Daniel Richard, Sales Director for Eastern Canada and Eastern United States.

Describe yourself in three words:
Determined, funny, loyal.
1 – I am not a quitter. When I see a challenge, it helps me up my game and I get even more determined.
2 – I think life should be lived with humour, love, and kindness. I see too many people that are letting daily life bring them down; laughter is a great remedy.
3 – Loyal to a fault sometimes, but I also believe, “Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.” When I have friends, I have them for life. I believe in making mistakes, we are human, and I forgive easily. I have been forgiven many times also 🙂

Favourite song, why?
Anything Led Zeppelin, always loved their music. Best rock voice and musicians. Also top 40, especially Latin music because I love to dance. I know, I’m all over the place musically; Rock, Latin beat, etc.

Favourite movie, why?
The Usual Suspects. The intrigue, and the ending is unpredictable. I’ve always loved suspenseful movies, and this one leaves you jaw dropped at the end. I love a good comedy too, but good comedies are very rare and hard to find.

Favourite book, why?
The Bible. It made me look at my life, our origin, where we came from, why, and where we’re going.

Favourite brand, why?
Samsung. I love their philosophy. They have their own city, work ethic, and technology. I know that most people are hooked on Apple stuff, but I’m not one of them.

What’s your favourite thing about working at Danavation?
The people (co-workers), John, and of course the technology and market we serve. The fit is perfect; I come with lots of experience in this business, and Danavation offers a great work environment, great support, and great knowledge from the team. It’s a great feeling to go see clients when you know that you have a team of experts behind you.

Quote to live by:
There’s always a solution, have faith.

Fun fact about you:
If it wasn’t for dealing with pressure, I might have gone for in baseball. I would lead the stats in hitting playing Junior Major, and I had a pretty hot glove at third base. I also raised some wild animals when I was younger, can you guess which?

If you were a superhero, what would be your superpower?
Reading minds, so I could help more people and get away from the ones I shouldn’t be around. I am sensitive to what people are going through, and I would love to help every chance I have.

What is your greatest accomplishment?
My son and my marriage. My career is also a source of joy and pride. My son is accomplishing academic excellence, and after graduating with the highest grades in the whole province of Quebec in high school, he did the same thing in Cegep and graduated university at the top of his program. He now has grants from the government to develop a solution for them. He’s in multimedia.

Your favourite tradition in your household?
Sunday night sushi, or once in a while something different that we agree on, but Sunday is an eat at home tradition.

Guilty pleasure:
Golf. I love being on the course in the summer. Nature, the feeling of making great contact with the ball, and the friendship with the other players.

Three travel destinations that are on your bucket list:
Italy, Bora Bora, and Greece. Haven’t been to Europe yet, and I definitely would love to visit in the near future.

Which actor/actress would play you in a movie about your life?
Tom Selleck, the younger days, the Magnum PI days. Great mojo and goofy 🙂

What do you think is the greatest invention of all time?
Automobiles and transportation. I know a lot of people will say Internet, and I somewhat agree, but getting around the world? Can’t beat that.

How many languages can you speak?
2, French and English fluently. I had started learning Spanish years ago, because I have many friends in Cuba after all my visits there and I wanted to be able to communicate in their language. I should pick it up again.

You’re hosting a dinner party. Eight people are seated at your table. Living or dead, who would you invite?
My wife, Jesus, John Ricci, my grandmother, my friends François Laurier who died way too young, Tiger Woods, Robert DeNiro, and Jennifer Connelly.

Three things you cannot live without?
My family, Thai food, and my transportation 🙂

Anything else interesting about you that you would like to share:
I am very much a leader by example, through encouragement and knowledge. I never consider myself above people, I like to see them for who they are and not necessarily what they have or what they do. I like to uncork their potential and I love helping others get to their goal. I love sports, keeping fit (spinning every morning, weights and core 4-5 times a week), and working on our house both inside and outside. I love the challenge of sales. I’ve learned that some of the best ways to become successful are to create a strong link with the client, be excited about the products that you are selling, and be genuine and knowledgeable.
